Application Engineer-Oakland County, MI

a. Provide technical expertise to the company and global organization, including pre-sales activities (demonstrations, benchmarks), post-sales (hot-line, training), consulting, and marketing (trade shows, conferences).
b. Remain current on all technical aspects of the product (theoretical and software functionality)
c. Represent company in a professional manner
2. Specific Duties:
a. Pre-Sales Activities:
i. Work with account management to technically qualify customer leads & prospects, and manage all technical aspects of the customer engagement. This can include conducting software demonstrations, benchmarks, evaluations, and technical training.
ii. Provide technical support at trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events.
b. Post-Sales Activities:
i. Conduct Fundamental & Advanced software training courses
ii. Provide first level technical support to customers
iii. Work with account management and product development teams to resolve customer support concerns.
iv. Provide regular on-site customer support as required
c. Consulting Service:
i. Work with customers and account management to develop technical scope of work for consulting projects
ii. Regularly report progress and results to local and international technical management.

4. Qualifications & Experience:
i. Engineering, Optics or Physics degree
ii. Fluent in spoken and written English
i. Bachelor degree or higher in optical engineering, optical design
ii. Experience in optics or illumination systems
iii. Physics background/ knowledge
iv. Industrial experience in engineering and product development.
v. Experience with SolidWorks, Catia v5, NX, and/or Creo
vi. Experience in technical sales environment
vii. Knowledge of Visual Basic
viii. Knowledge of other CAD, Simulation or software packages
ix. Experience optical software’s
x. Experience with visual ergonomics and/or virtual reality concepts/technologies
xi. Experience in technical sales environment
