This position is located in Michigan.

This position is responsible for investigating, planning, directing and implementing projects to improve manufacturing processes of existing products or development of new products that directly effect safety, quality, and productivity with the end result of producing a better quality product more efficiently. Involved with leading projects of moderate scope requiring engineering team effort or a multi-discipline team effort. Assigns, delegates and assists in providing engineering related duties or projects to lower level engineers, designers, and technicians. Expected to be actively participating in executing projects and daily activities as a working manager.

  • Ensure and maintain and follow proper compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, engineering standards and quality systems requirements.
  • Oversee engineering projects to develop, install, and qualify new processes for manufacturing new products or for improving existing processes to achieve business plan objectives.
  • Provide engineering support in the design, fabrication, development, installation and qualification of equipment, which may include feasibility studies and/or proper documentation for justification of project and training to ensure proper operation of the equipment.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and training to engineers, machine designers, and technicians; monitor work schedules and expenditures of project team.
  • Ensure proper documentation is prepared or corrected to reflect any changes implemented.
  • Research and implement cost reduction projects, lines, extensions, and/or products.
  • Plan work schedules, expenditures, attend meetings, and prepare monthly reports as required, ensuring effective communication of ideas, information, and issues to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Assign, delegate and assist in the completion of engineering tasks or projects to lower level engineers.
  • Be an active participant, leading and executing projects and daily activities.
Requires a four-year degree in an engineering discipline coupled with at least 5 years experience in an engineering environment for implementing major engineering, manufacturing and automation projects. Leadership experience preferred but not required. Knowledge in finance for working with budgets/capital expenditures. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Thorough knowledge of statistical techniques / methods, engineering drafting and personal computers - Windows-based software (Outlook, Word and Excel preferred). Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to lead project work. Knowledge of GMP/FDA/ISO regulations.
